FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE WEEK, HAGERSTOWN WASHED OUT
AGAIN
Mother Nature and the rain continued an
attraction for Saturday nights. For the second
consecutive week, Hagerstown Speedway has had to
call it an early ARCH Night. (Auto Racing Club of
Hagerstown)
Even with a mid evening drizzle about halfway
through qualifying, all 12 events had been
completed for the 32 Cindy Rowe Auto Glass late models, 30
Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic late model sportsman and 29 Ernie's Salvage
Yard pure stocks. The late model sportsman were
lined up and ready to head onto
the track for their feature event to bring the program to a halt.
With excessive moisture from arriving rain turning the track into an ice
rink and with the radar screen showing more taking dead aim at the
speedway area, the decision was made to
postpone the events.
With the speedway closed next week, May 10th for the Hagerstown Fireman's
Bonanza Extravaganza, late models will compete in double feature
events the next race date, May 17th.
On Friday, May 23, the late model sportsman are scheduled for a Charity race
with free admission but any donations go to Speedway Children's
Charity. The postponed sportsman event along with
the 30-lap Enduro Dash will now be included on the
special Friday night show.
The pure stock event is now added to the May 24th program with two events
included with the World of Outlaws late
model Conococheague event.
Late model heat winners were Kirk Ryan, Steve Gibney, and Nathan
Durboraw with J.T. Spence taking the
consolation.
James Myers, Andy Fries and Tyler Armstrong won the late model sportsman
heats while Dylan Yoder took the consy win.
Pure stock heats went to Steve Lowery, Dave Mikolajski and Darrin Younker
with Danny Beavers winning the consy.
On May 17th, pit gates open at 4 p.m., grandstands open at 5 p.m and warm
ups begin at 7 p.m. |
