Hagerstown Speedway Releases 2012 Tentative Schedule
Hagerstown Speedway will be entering the 2012 season with lots of new events and specials. There are no major rule changes to be announced at this time.
The biggest change falls in the Late Model Division. The Late Models will have a 7 scheduled race series for the Hagerstown Speedway Late Model Track Championship. There will be no point fund for this championship series; however each race will pay $2000 to win and $200 to start for the single point races and $2500 to win and $250 to start in the two double point races, which are the Johnny Roberts and McBee Hayes events.
Late Model will have NO tire compound rule for any race, qualifying or feature, but must run Hoosier brand tires. There will be No Handicapping. ALL events in the Championship Series will be PILL DRAW. Pills will be drawn at pit gate. Pills will determine the heat qualifying order. First three finishers in each heat will redraw for starting position in the feature. For example; if we have 3 heats, 9 drivers will redraw for feature starting position, the top 6 finisher in the heats qualify and move on to the feature while the remainder of the starting field will qualify in the consolation. If no consolation race is run, positions 19 - 24th will be lined up by heat race finish position. The winner from the last point event will start no better than sixth, regardless of draw. If you draw a number higher than sixth (6th), you will start where you drew. Hagerstown speedway reserves the right to start any repeat winner further back.
Hagerstown Speedway’s standard point system will be used. Extra distance events will be double point events. Events listed on the schedule as SPECIAL will be double point events. Drivers who do not qualify for the feature will be awarded 50 points. All Drivers must take the green flag in a qualifying race to get credit for an attempt to qualify at each event.
(100)appearance points will be awarded to all late model drivers who take the green flag in any Late Model event held at the Hagerstown Speedway including any traveling series or sanctioned event or Ernie D’s event, heat, consolation or feature.
Late Model Sportsman and Pure Stock divisions will continue to use the point average handicap system.
The Hobby Stock Cruisers will be handicapped with the point average system starting with the 2012 season. Also transponders will be mandatory.
